Configuring iPhone, iPad, or iPod E-Mail

Support : Email: iPhone/iPad/iPod

Note: IOS devices may automatically send read receipts when you read a message that includes one. We consider this a privacy violation, not to mention that it is what notifies spammers that the address is valid. This will not happen to you with us. Neither Delivery Receipts (meaning the server notifies the sender that the mail was received) nor Read Receipts (meaning your mail app notifies the sender that you read the message) will work with messages received via our incoming mail server.

Setting up email:

  • Tap on Settings on your home screen
  • Go to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
  • Tap on "Add account ..."
  • Select "Other" from the email providers list
  • Tap on "Add Mail Account"

Name: Whatever you want to list as a name
Email: YourAccount@example.com (typically youraccount@cotse.net, but can be any alias and cotse hosted domain you use)
    Password: Your Password
Description: Whatever you want to type as a description

  • Tap "Next"
  • In the Incoming Mail Server section
  • Select imap (pop if you are familiar with it and prefer its use)

    Host name: mail.cotse.net
Username: YourAccount (do not include @cotse.net)
    Password: Your Password

  • In the Outgoing Mail Server Section

    Host name: www.cotse.net
Username: YourAccount (do not include @cotse.net)
    Password: Your Password

  • Tap "Next"
  • Select where you want your emails to show (Make sure Mail is on)
  • Tap "Save"

When attempting to verify if you receive the message "Cannot Connect Using SSL - Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?" Select No and contact Helpdesk.

To add additional email addresses/aliases for sending mail:
(basically this works simply by adding addresses in this format to the address line: alias@domain1.com, alias2@domain2.com, alias@account.cotse.net, etc. They will be presented as a droplist for the from line when composing a mail and the first one entered will be the default.)

  • Tap Settings on the iPhone or iPod touch home screen.
  • Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  • Choose your account under Accounts.
  • Tap the account under IMAP.
  • Tap the Address field under IMAP Account Information or POP Account Information.
  • Select Select All from the pop-up menu.
  • Now select Cut.
  • Tap in the Description field, also under IMAP Account Information or POP Account Information.
  • If you have entered a custom description for the account:

Note the account description so you can retype it later.

  • Select Select All from the pop-up menu.
  • Tap in the Description field once more.
  • Select Paste from the pop-up menu.
  • For each address you want to use with the email account:

Enter ", " (a comma followed by a space; do not include the quotation marks).
Enter the desired additional email address.
Addresses will list in the order in which you enter them; the first in the list will be the default address for the account.

  • Tap somewhere in the Description field again.
  • Select Select All from the pop-up menu.
  • Now select Cut from the menu.
  • Tap in the Address field under IMAP Account Information or POP Account Information.
  • Tap in the same Address field again.
  • Select Paste from the pop-up menu.
  • If you want to use an account name different from the email addresses:

Tap in the Description field and enter any name you want.

  • Press the Home button.

Now you can pick the address used to send when composing a message or reply in iPhone Mail.
