Proving that MOVING files is insecure

Okay, let's get this over with in a hurry. This will settle all arguments you might get on this subject.

Move some files from Dir_1 to Dir_2.

Take a look at how empty Dir_1 looks in Windows.

Now, use File Recovery to open Dir_1.

Whoa, Nellie! What are those files still doing in Dir_1, from whence you had moved them?

Save them with File Recovery ( OBJECT | SAVE TO...). Now open them in your Windows directory and see for yourself that they have been fully recovered. It doesn't matter even if you had rebooted before saving them. They would still be there when you booted up the next time.

Scary, eh?

ANYONE can duplicate this test with freebie programs like Disk Investigator and File Recovery. DirSnoop is optional and is shareware. The moral of the story is to COPY sensitive material, and then go back and erase the original files in the first directory.
