He certainly is NOT speaking of the potato products, nor about JBN. And there are no other
well known anon programs other than these. Put this together with his constant QS and Christman
bashing, and it is plain to see whom he is referring to as lice.

I thought that the notion of "Private remailer" was well-known.
Apparently, it is not and a few important things have been overlooked by various commentators

1) The first condition for running a "private remailer" is the existence of a user base
- -which the remop can trust
- -which is large enough
I am relatively close to some organizations and I gave them classes about anonymity.
They are reasonably serious, their goals are close enough to my own thinking...
I just have to give my public keys to such "organization", and hearsay will propagate my keys
without need of my personal knowledge of each recipient.

Of course, that kind of constituency has nothing to do with the one flocking? to those who
distribute packages to the lice from Usenet with 'passport for free
trolling/flooding/spamming/harassment without retribution'.

SUGGESTION to remops:
Even if you don't plan to become private ever,
eye-contact with users and organized groups is always very rewarding:
- -meeting people with real use for what you are providing is somehow helful when you feel the
blues after crawling in apas mud or adapting your remailer's filters to the garbage output
- -knowing the real needs, problems, and practical suggestions of real people helps improve the
practical quality of the additional services your are offering.

2) I did not plan to create a 'private network'
If 2 remops are cosy enough to exchange their public keys in such context, that would qualify
for 'remailers sharing same operator/machine'. Giving somebody the public key of a private
remailer amounts to granting the capability to flood/kill it.

3) But of course, I planned to inject TO and FROM the public network.
- -private users get their keys/stats from a public source (the private remailer or another
source)
- -private users manually add the capstrings and keys from the private area of their private
remailer (once for all ie every year or so)
- -private users just have to *refuse* removing that 'unreferenced' remailer when updating
stats.

4) Of course, for all the ones who don't belong to the group of "private users", the 'private'
remailer is non-existent.

5) Miscellaneous problems include:
- -private remailer will not be selected as random/auto
- -Cpunk traffic  public->private won't be transparently remixed
    (private>public will be)
- -remix and repgp wont be possible from a public remailer -> private remailer
    (private>public is possible)
- -private users may use the private remailer as "first", "middle" or "last"
    (under the provisions above) 
- -dummy traffic generation must be tweaked:
 -figures must be higher to compensate the smaller user base
 -traffic *must* include as many public>private and private>public transitions as possible
- -user base must be large enough

6) In the end, it all boils down to the remop's goals.
6a)-I have some constituencies I can provide my services as 'private' (unions, organized groups
I know, offshore banking....)
6b)-I would be sorry that I won't be able to provide my services to other 'deserving' categories
(lonely/unorganized fredom fighters, victims ... and I will miss that audience)
6c)-I would be relieved that I don't help the bozos of all kind

Because 6b outweighs 6c, I would prefer to remain 'public', but if really it is not possible,
too bad and I will switch to 'private' and remain so.
Other services (Stats/keys, news server, m2news, would remain public)

According to last figures, the flood came to an end.
Probably Sassaman and Palfrader did not dare finishing the job in such an obvious way.
The flood started 90 minutes after I OUTed them and announced that I would not tolerate
their actions any more.
Well:
They had joyfully embarked the frog-haters bandwagon 2 years ago.
The defamation, disinformation and impersonation campaign against Frog will go on as usual,
 (but after all Replay, Squirrel, Cajones ...
  as long as memory goes, there were such attacks
  and with some philosophy I should consider it as recognition)
At least, things are clear now and I am not tied any more by the solidarity with people who
