Welcome to The Ultimate Zoo Page! "Zoo" is short for zoosexual. For those not familiar with the term, zoosexuality is an orientation, in the same category as hetero-, homo-, and bisexuality. It has long been called zoophilia, but that term has come to mean a mental aberration or sickness, and so it has no place in the zoosexual world. We are not sick at all. For the purposes of this page, a zoosexual is a person who has a profound emotional, and also possibly a physical attraction to animals. This attraction is manifested in many ways, including sexual contact with animals.

The term bestiality is also used to describe sexual contact between humans and animals, and 'bestialist' and 'zoosexual' are similar terms. Within the zoo community, it is becoming a convention that zoosexual refers to someone who has an emotional attraction for their animal partner(s) and whose sexual attraction to them is a result of the emotional bond, while a bestialist is only interested in the sexual aspects of such practices.

This page is dedicated to two purposes: 1)To provide support and information to zoosexuals. I do not condone bestiality, but I will not condemn those who practice it as long as the animals in question are not being abused. 2)To help non-zoos learn more about our lifestyle, who we are, and how we feel about our animal partners.

Zoosexuality is an alternative lifestyle, just as homosexuality or other things are. We do not "choose" to be zoos, it is a part of us. Many of us are zoos exclusively, meaning we do not have human partners. Others of us enjoy the company of both humans and animals.

It is often suggested that zoos abuse their partners. Two important things to remember here. First, since zoos love animals in the deepest sense, we could not conceive of doing something to harm them, nor do we condone any abusive or exploitive activity involving them. As an example, many of us are vegetarians. Second, the argument is often made that animals cannot say "No." Consider that animals have claws, teeth, and hooves with which they can inflict serious damage upon humans, and that if an animal is not interested, he or she will make those intentions known, in as forceful a manner as required. By the same token, animals have desires just as humans do, and they will let those be known, including pursuing human partners for sex at times.

Our lifestyle is often misunderstood, and we try to help people understand our feelings whenever we get the opportunity . We don't "recruit", we don't expect everyone to agree with what we do, nor do we expect everyone to be a zoo. But we do ask that others accept us as we are, and that they allow us the freedom to do as we wish, providing we are not harming others. We try very hard not to be judgemental, and we ask the same consideration from everyone else.

To my fellow zoos: You're not alone out there. There are many of us who understand your feelings. This page and the links in it are for all of us.
